Terms of Use

Revision of 29 October 2026. By using ScanBridge you agree to these terms.

1. What is provided

ScanBridge is a free beta application that sends barcode scan results from a phone to a computer on the local network and can type them into the active window or write CSV/XLSX. The application is provided “as is”.

2. Version limitations

  • Windows 10/11 and Linux with X11; macOS, iOS and Wayland are not supported.
  • Local Wi-Fi/LAN only; there is no cloud mode or COM port.
  • Builds are unsigned; there is no auto-update.
  • The channel currently uses ws:// inside the LAN and HMAC signatures; TLS is planned for the next stage.

3. Acceptable use

You may not use ScanBridge to:

  • break the law, third-party rights or the rules of the network you use;
  • type input secretly or monitor a user without their knowledge;
  • bypass technical protection measures or access restrictions;
  • distribute malicious data disguised as barcodes.

Keyboard emulation works only when explicitly enabled and shows a visible status indicator. The user is responsible for the target window and the data being typed.

4. Data security

Do not scan codes containing secrets unless you trust the computer and network. Do not use guest networks with unknown devices for confidential codes. See thePrivacy Policy for details.

5. No warranty

The application is provided without warranties of fitness for a particular purpose, uninterrupted operation or freedom from errors. Code recognition depends on the camera, lighting and the Android/ML Kit version. We do not guarantee compatibility with specific software or hardware.

6. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the project owner is not liable for indirect damages, data loss, lost profit or consequences of an incorrectly recognized code. Our aggregate liability is limited to the amount paid for the product (currently zero — the product is free).

7. Intellectual property

The ScanBridge name, interface, copy and code were created for this project. Third-party libraries are used under their licenses; the list is published in the repository. Copying third-party brands, designs or copy is not allowed.

8. Changes and contact
