Version 0.1.1 · beta · Free

Download ScanBridge

Three files: a Windows installer, an AppImage or deb for Linux and an APK for Android. This version is unsigned and has no auto-update — to upgrade, download the new file manually.

Installers by platform

your OS

Windows

NSIS installer for Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit. Unsigned build: SmartScreen will show a warning — this is expected.

your OS

Linux

AppImage or deb for distributions with X11. Wayland is not supported: typing into other windows is restricted there.

your OS

Android

APK for Android 9 and newer. Installed manually (sideload): allow installation from unknown sources for your file manager.

SHA-256 for every file is published on the release page. All files and checksums →

Requirements

  • Computer and phone on the same Wi-Fi/LAN (guest networks with client isolation will not work).
  • Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit; or Linux with X11 (not Wayland).
  • Android 9 or newer, camera with autofocus.
  • Port 47830 free on the computer, or another port configured in settings.

Windows: SmartScreen

The installer is not signed with a code-signing certificate, so SmartScreen will show the “Windows protected your PC” warning. This is expected for a beta build. Download the file only from the official release page and verify SHA-256.

  1. Run ScanBridge-Setup-0.1.1.exe.
  2. In the SmartScreen window click “More info”.
  3. Click “Run anyway”.
  4. Complete the NSIS installation; the autostart checkbox is optional.
  5. After launch, open the Pairing tab and show the QR code to your phone.

Verify the file. SHA-256 is published on the release page. Compare it withGet-FileHash .\ScanBridge-Setup-0.1.1.exe -Algorithm SHA256.

Linux: AppImage or deb

X11 is supported. Check your session with echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE: it must bex11. On Wayland, typing into other windows does not work and is explicitly disabled.

AppImage

chmod +x ScanBridge-0.1.1-x86_64.AppImage
./ScanBridge-0.1.1-x86_64.AppImage

Debian/Ubuntu (.deb)

sudo apt install ./ScanBridge-0.1.1-amd64.deb
scanbridge

If the app is started from a terminal, the log explains why keyboard emulation is unavailable (for example, DISPLAY is not set).

Android: install the APK

The APK is distributed manually (sideload), not through Google Play. Android will ask to allow installation from unknown sources for the app you open the file from.

  1. Download ScanBridge-0.1.1-android.apk.
  2. Open the file and allow installation from this source when prompted.
  3. Install and open ScanBridge.
  4. Allow camera access.
  5. On the Pairing tab, scan the QR code from your computer.

The APK is signed with the Android debug key so it can be installed. Publishing on Google Play requires a separate release key and AAB — that is the next stage.

Verify checksums

SHA-256 is published next to every file on the release page. Compare it with the local hash:

sha256sum ScanBridge-0.1.1-x86_64.AppImage
certutil -hashfile ScanBridge-Setup-0.1.1.exe SHA256

Open the release page and checksums →

If pairing fails

  • Make sure the phone and computer are on the same subnet, not a guest network with isolation.
  • Allow port 47830 (or your configured port) in the firewall for the private network.
  • If mDNS is blocked, use the QR code or enter the IP, port and token manually.
  • The pairing token expires after 10 minutes; refresh the QR code on the computer.
